The United Nations added SaharaGreen to the register of Global Compact Initiative
The 29th of July 2011, the United Nations has welcomed the NGO Sahara Green to the United Nations Global Compact register of Stakeholders/Participants: http://unglobalcompact.org/participant/14139
The organization UN Global Compact wished to thank Dr HADROUG Nasser , Chairman of Sahara Green and member of DESERTEC UK and TREC (Trans-mediterranean Renewable Energy Cooperation), for joining the international corporate responsibility initiative of the United Nations.
As a participant, Sahara Green commits to:
- Support the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption;
- Advance these principles within Sahara Green's sphere of influence, and make a clear statement of this commitment to its stakeholders and the general public;
- Take part in the activities of the UN Global Compact, for example: participate in Local Networks; join specialized initiatives and workstreams; engage in partnership projects; and review Communications on Progress posted by participating companies.
Sahara Green is an international NGO the vision of which is to use Renewable Energy from Deserts for a Sustainable Growth. The main areas/fields of Sahara Green are Renewable Energy (CSP, PV and Wind), Water Desalination, Desertification, Permaculture, Hydrogen Economy. Sahara Green supports Trans-mediterranean Sustainable Cooperation/Projects like Mediterranean Solar Plan, DESERTEC, and MedGrid, and is writing the Transmediterranean Sustainable Cooperation Policies.
